When in the check out screen, you cannot see if you have an option to change the payment type. You ha ve to edit the shipping address and then if you have multiple payment options you can select them there. I believe before it was available to update in the checkout screen without have to go into edit.

Having the payment options readily available at checkout is a setting in Site Preferences on the bottom left - Checkout Settings. If you click the edit button, then click the "Allow Change Payment Method on Checkout Review Page" and click Save, users will then see the option to change their payment method in Checkout Review (unless the user is not able to do so per their user checkout settings).
